Quick look at the Live Lock Screen app for WP8.1

Microsoft has finally released the much awaited Live Lock Screen app for Windows Phone 8.1 users. Initially, it was claimed that at least 1GB of RAM was required but Microsoft has managed to get it running on 512MB RAM as well. Live Lock Screen app is still in BETA but can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store.

Incase you somehow missed out what the Live Lock Screen app is, have a read at the description below.

Want to truly personalize your lock screen? Live lock screen lets you choose from 6 new lock screen layouts to add a distinctive touch to your Windows Phone. Each layout has a revamped design for the time, date, and notifications, as well as a unique unlock animation. You can also cycle through multiple background images throughout the day to keep your lock screen fresh—or just get the latest incredible image from Bing every morning.

For those looking to see what the app can actually do, have a look at the Live Lock Screen app in action on a Lumia 920, below.

First thing that most of you might notice is that, sometimes the lockscreen would take longer to come up. Do keep in mind that the app is still in BETA and we expect this to be fixed in the final release. Also, this can hardly be noticed on high-end devices while thats not the case on low-end devices.

Live Lock Screen is customizable but the options are limited in my opinion. Live Lock Screen app has only six unlock styles to choose from and two background options. These two background options include; Bing image of the day and your custom selected images. You can also choose to rotate at predefined time intervals, between your selected background images.
